I’m a communications, writing, media production, and project management professional based in Louisville (Loo-UH-vuhl), Kentucky (and yes, that’s the only correct way to say it!).
Most recently, I was communications manager at the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Kentucky, where I wrote testimony, op-eds, talking points, blog posts, email campaigns, and more to inspire action to protect civil liberties for all Kentuckians. I also created and managed the organization’s editorial calendar and our social media presence for an audience of 60k+.
Prior to the ACLU-KY, I worked as a project manager and producer at creative agencies, producing a variety of multimedia pieces for a range of clients, from local non-profits to big tech clients like Meta and Microsoft.
I’ve written about my city for Louisville Magazine, the Washington Post, and the Daily Beast, including coverage of the 2020 racial justice protests. For several years, I covered the intersection of agriculture and the environment as a news blogger and reporter for Earth Eats, a blog and podcast from WFIU in Bloomington, Indiana. I interned at StoryCorps, an oral history and public radio project that appears weekly on NPR. [Fun fact: I applied for this internship for 5 years in a row. StoryCorps taught me about persistence, as well as distilling hours-long interviews into 2 minutes of tape.]
As a journalism graduate student at Indiana University, I was a reporter for WTIU/WFIU News, producing daily stories, newscasts, radio, and video stories. My undergraduate degree is in cultural anthropology, and I also have professional experience in cross-cultural and environmental education.
